I live in San Francisco. I’m a resident of America. My boyfriend is an exchange student (F1) who ’s studying Alabama now. We are 21 years old. I have the driver’s license,but he just have the learner. He will come to S.F. on Oct. . We want to rent a car for 9 or 10 days. I got some questions when I was filling out the information .

1)Should we need to pay the age surcharge of USD/20.00 per day? If yes, please tell me which rental car palce of S.F. don’t need to pay this fee. Or, can I ask for another person who’s age above 25 by his informations and driver’s license to pick up the car for me?

2) What should I bring to the rental place when I pick up the car.

3)Should I need to add rental car damage protector ? Is that necessary?

4) Should I need to pay the insurance on this car?
