We went to a wedding in Carmel. It is gorgeous and there was NO ONE around. It is also nearby Monterey, with fabulous restaurants, a great aquarium and beautiful scenery. It is a 7-hour drive from L.A., and oh so worth it!
Congratulations on your nuptials. :)

A very well kept secret in the L.A. area...At Chace Park in Marina del Rey there is a lovely indoor pavilion with a caterer's kitchen and patio that you can rent for rock-bottom prices, including the chairs and tables. Note: There is not a beach at this location, but it is right on the water and you can watch the boats coming and going in the channel. It's a lovely park, perfect for getting married outdoors and for taking wedding photos. I've included a link to the website, which includes a contact phone number and photos of the facility and park. Congratulations, and best wishes on finding the perfect place.

Bacara in Santa Barbara may be the best, but it's expensive. Then theres the Montage in Laguna Beach, also expensive.

Also La Jolla may be a good place there's a beach behind the museum of modern art.

Del Mar has a place right on the beach for weddings, its a great facility, and there are two restaurant nearby, jacks and another place, i can't remember. You might also think about renting a place on the beach in Del Mar right on the beach, that might be the most cost effective.

There's Leo Carillo State Beach with great coves, but a bit desolate, its about 20 minutes north of Malibu pier.
