In a recent question on the South African section of Yahoo Answers, an African American asks “Is it safe for a single white tourist travelling alone in a rental car in South Africa?”.
She never specifically stated that she was African but her avator was black and when questioned by a contributor she confirmed that she was indeed African but stated, “I consider myself white after growing up in America”……
What does this imply?
Do African Americans believe Africans in Africa to be inferior to themselves?
I am confused……

   there are different races in africa. you might think their all black. northern africans are almost considered white in the south. they do have different skin tones. but most look the same.

   Wow, brilliant question, we call people like that “Coconuts”.

   But hey, come to think about it, South Africa is safe, irrespective of your colour, just dont drive or go to dorgy places.

   Yes they do look at us as inferior.
   Because all they see is famine, poverty, small kids with fies on their faces that kind of stuff.
   Nothing good about Africa goes over there why would it.

   But most African Americans don’t see themselves as white this is a very strange case.

   Because she is a very confused individual ! She names herself Black queen yet she considers herself white ! She has posted a lot of racial questions in different categories and wants to move to another country because in America there are 50 murders a day ! Boy is she in for a surprise in South Africa ! She better sort herself out before visiting South Africa or she is bound to run into trouble with her Identity crises . She can’t even choose if she wants to be an Atheist or a Christian ! This girl realy has some issues !

   I myself found the whole thing absolutely laughable. its very strange. You cant possible change your race just because you live in a certain place! the girl is in serious denial.

   You will get the ‘odd & confused’ visiting the forum every now and then. This one has a serious case of mistaken identity.
   I have never heard of a non-white considering themselves to be white after just living in a particular country, it hilarious!
   She needs a wake-up call.
